Renault SA may work with US dealer AutoNation to launch Alpine sports car sales in the US as part of a strategy to expand the brand, which already only sells a small number of vehicles.

According to Chief Executive Officer Luca de Meo, the French automaker is also looking into additional possibilities for Alpine to enter the North American market.

One of the cornerstones of Renault's new strategy is Alpine, which was relaunched in 2017 and exclusively produces the A110 sports coupe.

De Meo commented outside of Renault's results presentation, "It's not simple since we are not present in the US and we have to start from zero.” De Meo thinks that working with Mike Manley's AutoNation, which is now placing automobiles in dealerships, might result in a collaboration.

After a difficult year characterised by an expensive exit from Russia and a historic agreement to reform its problematic partnership with Nissan Motor, the manufacturer is starting a massive revamp.

The firm is restructuring into five groups, including one for electric vehicles, one for assets related to combustion and hybrid engines, one for the Alpine sports car brand, one for financial services, and one for new mobility and recycling industries.

The difficult arrangement Renault reached with Nissan earlier this month has made it possible for it to collaborate with new businesses, including Qualcomm and Zhejiang Geely Holding Group in China.

De Meo previously stated during an investor call that the corporation is "not stopping here" in regard to collaborations.
