Ryanair reported on Monday that it had flown 12% more customers in August than it had in the same month a year prior, setting a new record for traffic. August is usually the airline's biggest month.
The COVID-19 pandemic hit in August 2019, but before that, Europe's largest airline by passenger traffic reported flying 18.9 million passengers in August, up from 16.9 million a year earlier and from 14.9 million in August 2019.
In July, it surpassed its prior high of 18.7 million passengers.
The Irish airline has stated that it anticipates 9% more passengers, or about 183.5 million, for the fiscal year ending in March 2024.
Following the release of the passenger figures, Citigroup analysts reaffirmed a "buy" recommendation for the airline in a note.
