In less than three weeks after its debut, the Pixar picture "Inside Out 2" has surpassed $1 billion at the global box office, making it the fastest-ever animated film to do so, the Walt Disney Co. said on Sunday.
Disney, which owns Pixar, said that the movie is the only one to surpass $1 billion in revenue and the biggest grossing picture of the year.
The 2015 blockbuster "Inside Out 2" explores the inner workings of a young girl's mind. Riley, the main character, has grown into a teenager in the second installment and is battling new feelings like jealousy and fear.
In the summer of 2015, the first "Inside Out" grossed around $90 million on its opening weekend and reached a global total of $858.8 million.
