Ministers are attempting to put an end to the rail strikes that have lasted for more than two years by offering train drivers a 14% salary increase.
On Wednesday, Louise Haigh, the minister of transport, presented the above-inflation three-year proposal that would raise the average salary of drivers from £60,000 to over £70,000.
Drivers will now be given the opportunity to vote on the agreement, according to Union Aslef, which was approved by the Department for Transport.
If this were to happen, it would put an end to the protracted conflict that started in July 2022 between truckers and sixteen rail companies.
Throughout the conflict, drivers have struck on eighteen different days, resulting in delays and cancellations throughout the railway network.
Aslef general secretary Mick Whelan stated, "The offer is a good offer - a fair offer - and it is what we have always asked for." He also said that it would be advised that members ratify the agreement.
