Markets begin the day higher ahead of PMI

Wednesday's small advances for the FTSE 100 came ahead of PMI data and as the US earnings season continues.

Tuesday's Wall Street results in the US were mixed, with the Nasdaq up 0.4%, the S&P 500 up 0.3%, and the Dow Jones down 0.3%.

After the market closed, Netflix jumped more than 8% with its shares rising to as high as 10% in the all-session trading hours.

With 13.12 million net additions during the quarter, Netflix said that its largest-ever fourth quarter saw a 13% increase in global paid streaming subscriptions, from 230.75 million to 260.28 million, compared to the previous year.

The early focus in London will be on reports from easyJet, JD Wetherspoon, and Fresnillo.

Later in the day, the US is set to release more PMI data alongside the interest rate decision from the Bank of Canada.

Tesla will also be in focus as it is the first of the Magnificent Seven to report earnings after the close of the US market.
