The Wall Street Journal reported that McDonald's is temporarily closing US offices this week in preparation of informing corporate staff about layoffs as part of a larger reorganisation plan.
The business advised American workers and certain overseas staff members last week to work from home from Monday through Wednesday so that it could deliver personnel decisions remotely, according to the publication.
In spite of accelerating the development of new stores, McDonald's said in January that it would be slashing corporate employees and abandoning other programmes. The fast-food chain has previously stated that the job layoffs will be finalised by April 3rd.
As of the end of 2022, according to statistics gathered by Bloomberg, it employed roughly 150,000 people.
Based on the report, the firm requested that all in-person meetings at its headquarters with suppliers and other outside parties be cancelled. On Sunday, McDonald's refused to speak to the media about how many staff were being let go.
Roles have been cut by businesses in sectors ranging from technology to retail as consumer demand has been hampered by rising inflation and an impending recession. Last week, Walt Disney started laying off employees.
