According to Tesla CEO Elon Musk, the company will be introducing "low production" humanoid robots for internal usage by the end of the next year.
By 2026, Musk said, the Optimus robots will "hopefully" go into high production for outside clients. He posted on the social networking site X that he hoped would be more widely available.
"Tesla will have genuinely useful humanoid robots in low production for Tesla internal use next year and, hopefully, high production for other companies in 2026," Musk said in a letter.
Musk said back in April that by the end of this year, Optimus will be ready to manage manufacturing duties, and that sales would start as early as late in 2025.
Humanoid robots have been the focus of several businesses. They view these robots as labour shortage remedies that may be used for dangerous and repetitive work.
In September 2022, Tesla unveiled the Optimus robot, also known as Bumblebee.
With the market for electric cars beginning to decline, Musk has recently refocused his attention on artificial intelligence, autonomous driving software, robotaxis, and the Optimus robot. Currently, the majority of Tesla's quarterly income comes from electric vehicles.
