According to Reuters, Tesla plans to build a redesigned Model Y with six seats with an intended debut date of late 2025 in China.

In an effort to increase the Model Y's attractiveness in the face of increased competition from Chinese domestic EV makers, the business is updating its best-selling electric car (EV), which debuted in 2020.

The article claims that Tesla has informed its suppliers that there would be a major uptick in Model Y manufacturing at its Shanghai facility.

Specifics of Tesla's strategy to increase output were not made public, although the Shanghai facility is presently awaiting approval to expand into a nearby 70-hectare parcel of former farmland.

A calculated effort to preserve Tesla's competitive advantage in the Chinese market, where local EV manufacturers are putting pressure on the American automaker, is the debut of the six-seater Model Y version.
