The Polish PM has now said that Poland has stopped arming Ukraine.

The prime minister stated on Wednesday that Poland is no longer supplying Ukraine because it is concentrating on increasing its own arsenal as Warsaw's position towards Kyiv changes only weeks before an election.

When Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, Poland was one of the country's most reliable peers. However, the two nations are at odds over Ukrainian grain exports as Warsaw extended a ban on them.

Mateusz Morawiecki told Polsat News, "We are no longer supplying any weapons to Ukraine since we are now equipping ourselves with the most sophisticated weaponry.

In response to President Volodymyr Zelenskiy's remarks following Poland's decision to prolong the grain ban, Morawiecki said after Poland called the Ukrainian ambassador to the foreign ministry.

The embargo was put in place to safeguard Polish farmers against an increase in grain and food imports from Ukraine after Russia's invasion mainly cut off Ukraine's access via Black Sea ports.

Zelenskiy stated at the UNGA (United Nations General Assembly) that Kyiv was striving to maintain land routes for grain exports but noted that the "political theatre" around grain imports only benefited Moscow.

After the European Commission opted not to extend a ban on sales into five EU nations, including Romania and Bulgaria, Poland, Slovakia, and Hungary placed restrictions on grain imports from Ukraine on Friday.

On October 15th, Poland will hold parliamentary elections. The extreme right has criticised the ruling nationalist Law and Justice (PiS) party for what it perceives as the government's weak stance towards Ukraine.
