US Streaming Sports Service to Be Launched by ESPN, FOX, and Warner Bros. Discovery in Partnership

ESPN, a division of Walt Disney, FOX, and Warner Bros. Discovery have come to a principal understanding to establish a new joint venture with the goal of creating an inventive new platform that will house an exciting new streaming sports service. Sports networks, a few direct-to-consumer sports services, and sports rights—which include programming from all of the major professional sports leagues and collegiate sports—are all combined onto one platform by the corporations.

Final agreements between the parties must be negotiated before the pay service can be formed. The product would be made immediately available to customers via a new app, with a debut date set for the autumn of 2024. Additionally, subscribers would be able to combine the product with Disney+, Hulu, and/or Max.

The platform would combine materials to give sports fans a wide selection of dynamic sports programming. Its goal is to offer sports fans something fresh and unique, especially for those who do not subscribe to typical pay TV packages.

Fans would have access to linear sports networks, such as ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SECN, ACCN, ESPNEWS, ABC, FOX, FS1, FS2, BTN, TNT, TBS, truTV, and ESPN+, by subscribing to this concentrated, all-in-one premier sports service.

"The launch of this new streaming sports service is a significant moment for Disney and ESPN, a major win for sports fans, and an important step forward for the media business," stated Bob Iger, Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company. This implies that customers will be able to access the whole ESPN channel lineup in addition to sports programming from other top producers as part of a unique sports-focused package. I'm appreciative of Jimmy Pitaro and the ESPN team for leading the way in consumer-focused innovation to provide new products with more options and better value.

"We're excited to bring the FOX Sports portfolio to this new and exciting platform," stated FOX's executive chair and CEO. "We think the service will offer a wealth of fantastic sports material in one location to ardent fans outside of the conventional package."
